Consultancy

We provide a Competent Health and Safety Consultancy service package provided by our dedicated Chartered Health and Safety Professional, Chartered with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

  • An initial Health and Safety audit review of your organisations Health and Safety Policy, Management Systems and procedures.
  • You will be able to name us as your competent Health and Safety Advisor for your organisations accreditation’s (such as CHAS and Constructionline) and to satisfy the requirements of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
  • Also included in this package is ongoing access via email or telephone for competent health and safety advice at anytime within office hours from your dedicated Chartered Health and Safety Professional.
  •  Be issued with 3 newsletters per year with details of any relevant Health and Safety news and details of Health and Safety legislation updates.

Competent Person Service

A competent person is someone who has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to help your business discharge the legal duties for health and safety.

Examples of competence may include:

  • Experience in operational roles of the business

  • Formal training (this can range from 1 day to 5 years or more)

  • Professional membership of a recognised organisation (IOSH, RoSPA, IIRSM, BSC)

  • Knowledge of the legal duties placed on your business for occupational health and safety

There are lots of professional membership bodies for safety professionals. We only provide consultants who are registered with the only organisation with Royal Charter: Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

We only provide consultants who have been peer reviewed and achieved chartered safety practitioner (CMIOSH) status.

Covid 19 Risk Assessment

Any business looking to open their doors to the public or employees should complete a risk assessment for COVID-19. Sometimes referred to as Coronavirus, COVID-19 has caused many businesses to close since March 2020 around the United kingdom.

Now that more businesses will be open in coming weeks, a risk assessment will be required to show how you intend to manage the risks to employees, visitors and customers.

It is normal to have a written risk assessment when you employ five or more people in your business. However, COVID-19 Risk Assessment should be recorded due to the significant levels of exposure that can happen in your premises.

A COVID-19 Risk Assessment helps you as the business owner to manage the risks in a sensible way that is designed to be cost-effective and practical. Do not think you need to spend tens of thousands of pounds on sophisticated equipment if you do not have to.

Fire Risk Assessments

Fire Risk Assessments

We offer help with Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Plans and Fire Emergency Plans. It is a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for all employers to conduct a fire risk assessment and ensure that employees are properly trained with regard to the safety of employees, visitors and customers using business premises.

Insurance companies often require employers to demonstrate that they take fire safety seriously and a fire risk assessment undertaken by a competent person illustrates this.

Bespoke Safety Solutions provide competitively priced fire risk assessments for a range of business premises including offices, warehouses and construction sites. Our qualified health and safety team have undertaken accredited fire risk assessor training.

What is involved in the fire risk assessment?

If you already have a fire assessment we will review that for you. A review should take place once a year or if there are changes to the building, the number of employees, the change of use of the premises or when new equipment or systems are installed.

If you haven’t had a fire risk assessment one of our fire risk assessors will undertake that on your behalf. The work will involve:

An inspection of the premises and reviewing your fire plan diagram, emergency evacuation procedure and management of fire documents to help make an assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of the following aspects:

  • Risk to life of fire
  • Means of escape
  • Emergency lighting
  • Fire detection and warning/alarm systems
  • Safety signage
  • Fire drills and fire safety inspections
  • The systems in place for fire protection
  • Security against arson attacks
  • Training for staff
  • How fire safety is managed

We produce an easy to follow Fire Risk Assessment report that follows the PAT 79 methodology recognised by Fire Authorities and Regulators. The report indicates any aspects that are non-compliant with the legislation and national standards and recommends improvements where appropriate.
